We suggest a chink gun, bucket plate, spatulas, water bottle, and a one- inch paintbrush.

Does the finish yellow over time?

Some products that are available for purchase do yellow the wood over time. The products that we recommend are made by Perma-chink, and according to them their products are non-yellowing.

Are there any tips for the do-it-yourselfer that would make my project go smoother?

* Apply 1/2" masking tape over the joint to be chinked. This serves as a bond breaker which allows the chink to expand and contract.
* Apply the stain and finish before chinking. Clean up is much easier.
* Make sure that you submerge the bucket plate in water before placing it on the chink -this helps form a better seal with the chink gun.
*The chink gun needs to have water pulled into the tube and plunged out prior to filling with chink. This needs to be done on each refill.
*Use products such as Perma-chink that are from the same company to ensure complete compatibility.
